The Christian faithful of Guinea, like their co-religionists of the world, celebrated the Christmas holiday on Friday, December 25, 2020.

The commemoration of this 2020 Christmas year, marking the birth of the prophet Jesus Christ (JC) of Nazareth, is special. Because it has been marked by economic and social imbalances, caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

On the occasion of this festival, the President of the Diaka Camara Foundation for Education, Ms. Diaka Camara, distributed Christmas gifts and symbolic envelopes in several orphanage centres in the Guinean capital, Conakry in particular, the Voice of the Voiceless Voices, Regina Maris and God is love. These gifts are made up of children’s toys including dolls, airplanes, cars, bags containing kitchen utensils and hair accessories…; as well as coloured pencils, colouring books, sanitary kits and bavettes for the coronavirus response.

As every Christmas, the Diaka Camara Foundation often intervenes in many orphanage centres, also in the schooling of the girl, who is also a preferred line of action by the foundation.

“The Diaka Camara Foundation for Education will do its best to make orphaned and vulnerable children smile. Every Christmas year, fundraisers are raised to make orphaned children happy and comfort them. It is extremely important that these children know that they are not abandoned.  I encourage and congratulate the people who run the orphanages, they are the real heroes, because they are the ones who take care of these children all year round,” said Ms. Diaka Camara.

After the handover, the director of the orphanage centre for the rehabilitation of disabled children, Régina Maris, in the commune of Ratoma, Henriette Boué, stressed, “Today 25 December 2020 is the Christmas party. Anyone thinking about christmas, thinking about the kids. And who thinks about children, thinks about gifts. This is what the Diaka Camara Foundation for Education has done. We will begin to distribute these gifts to children so that they feel happy, comfortable, that they know that they are not abandoned by this foundation.”

Mohamed Bangoura, orphaned by father and mother at the God Is Love orphanage centre in Nongo, Ratoma, is delighted with the Christmas gifts he has received, he has blessed the president of the Diaka Camara Foundation for Education, for his act of sympathy.

This is the same case of gratitude and joy towards the Diaka Camara Foundation for Education, expressed by the orphanage, the voice of the Voiceless in Hafia in the commune of Dixinn, which is also the first step in the distribution of Christmas gifts.

The campaign to distribute food kits by the Diaka Camara Foundation for Education in Guinea continues. This humanitarian gesture is to the benefit of the populations impacted by COVID-19. On this occasion, the foundation raised more than 900 million Guinean francs in cash and food through a national telethon “Together Against Covid19” to help the needy, beggars and orphans during this pandemic that is still raging in Guinea and around the world.

This humanitarian action to distribute food kits began in April 2020 in the 5 municipalities of Conakry, Coyah ; Forécariah, Dubréka and the Loos Islands.

During this humanitarian campaign, each needy family received a bag of rice, a box of tomato, a can of 5-litre peanut oil and 5 kg of sugar. All of this is made possible by the efforts of Ms. Diaka Camara, CEO of CBC Worldwide Communication – Production Company.

Committed to the battleground of food distribution, the foundation’s technical team provided food to vulnerable families.

The first stage of the distribution of the food kits this Saturday, October 10, began in the Kaloum peninsula, precisely in Coronthie where 30 families received food in the hands of the Diaka Camara Foundation team.

Very pleased with this magnanimous gesture from the foundation, one of the beneficiaries of the donation Hadja Faranata Yéressa congratulated the donor structure headed by Mrs. Diaka Camara : “I am very happy and happy with the donation of the Diaka Camara Foundation. The first thing we pray for is that the Almighty Allah guides her foundation. I am very comforted especially at this time of COVID-19, which continues to destroy our economies. She chose the right time of poverty drawn by the health crisis to help households affected by the pandemic of the century. We received 50 kg bags of rice, sugar, cans of tomatoes and 5-litre cans of peanut oil,” said the recipient lady.

Beyond that, the Diaka Camara Foundation visited the commune of Ratoma for the second stage, specifically in Koloma. In this commune, 34 families benefited from food.

Filled with joy, one of the beneficiaries of this commune Jeannette Teima Koivogui says she is overwhelmed by this gesture which she believes will remain engraved in history.

“I am very overwhelmed and surprised by this gesture. For it is a first to see such a gift again in my life. This disease has severely affected many families especially in these difficult times, of misery, of despair. It is to tell you that this gesture will remain in the annals of history. This is why the Diaka Camara Foundation for Education in Guinea is an example that many structures must emulate for the happiness of citizens in the Republic of Guinea. I implore the divine grace to consolidate his team and the progress of his foundation which is composed of dynamic team very young. And, this gift goes straight to the bottom of my heart. Thank you and thank you Mrs Diaka Camara for this humanitarian act,” she said.

The third and final stage for this distribution operation was the municipality of Dixinn. At this level 50 families received food. Like the other two previous municipalities, the joy was immense for the beneficiaries. For this reason, the families also spoke in gratitude and satisfaction to the Diaka Camara Foundation and all those who contributed to the Telethon.

The Loos Islands, located a few kilometers from the municipality of Kaloum, were the recipients of the telethon donations the Diaka Camara Foundation for Education in Guinea on Saturday October 03, 2020. The donations were distributed to the economically weakened riverside population weakened by the adverse effects of COVID-19.

This important step concerned the islands of Kassa, Sorro, Mangué, Room and Fotoba. Throughout the day the foundation members delivered donations to vulnerable populations consisting of bags of rice, boxes of tomatoes, kilograms of sugars, cans of peanut oils.

After the crossing, the Kassa sub-prefecture was the first step in the distribution of food kits. Pleased with the gesture, the district chief of the island of the sub-prefecture of Kassa Mohamed Lamine Sylla had this to say: “I thank the Diaka Camara Foundation very much, for this positive act that it took today we received 50 bags of rice, kilograms of sugars, cans of peanut oils and boxes of tomatoes. It’s very rare in the islands. We are a population of 16 thousand. There are three inhabited islands Kassa, Fotoba and Room. It is a gift that goes straight into the hearts of the islanders. Because it comes at a very difficult time. This disease has held back everything it has made life impossible, the market difficult, the price of rice as gold. The people are very happy. We’re all poor here. But the level of poverty is not the same,” the district official said.

Mohamed Lamine Camara, a member of Youth 21 (J21), said that the crossing was not easy as he helped the Foundation distribute the food.

According to him, the foundation Diaka Camara conducted field surveys prior to targeting vulnerable households. “The arrival of COVID-19 has really hurt the poorest families.

The women of the island of Sorro expressed their joy:  “We are very happy to have 25 bags of rice, boxes of tomatoes, kilograms of sugars and cans of peanut oil. We pray to God Almighty for Diaka Camara, nights and days as her foundation progresses, may God help us, because, this disease is very scary” says M’mah Soumah.

It should be remembered that this telethon, which began on 18 April and 3 May 2020, raised about nine hundred million Guinean francs (900,000,000fg) and 500 families which has been identified will benefits from it over a 3 months period.

Since the emergence of COVID-19 in Guinea, Ms. Diaka Camara, CEO of CBC Worldwide Communication – Production Company and President of the Diaka Camara Foundation for Education in Guinea, is still coming to the aid of vulnerable families during this time while the coronavirus pandemic still rages.

On this leg distributions were made in the municipalities of Matam, Bonfi, Matoto, Sangoyah, Kissosso and Tombolia to the needy in orphanages and families Saturday, September 26, 2020.

Aicha Soumah, the treasurer of Telethon initiative was overseeing the food distribution kits to needy citizens.

“Today in two of the municipalities Matam and Matoto, about 100 families and an orphanage have received donations of: a 50 kg bag of rice, 5 kg of sugar, a 5-litre can of oil and boxes of tomatoes. Our goal is to help poor families in need during this health crisis that is still raging in the world and in Guinea,” says Aicha Soumah.

According to her, this telethon, which began on 18 April and 3 May 2020, “about nine hundred million Guinean francs (900,000,000 GNF), have been mobilized through this initiative of the Diaka Camara Foundation, which will be used to help 500 families.

On this occasion of giving donations to the needy, the Treasurer once again thanked the media, the. partners and anonymous people who put their hands in their pocket and donated to this humanitarian project during this time of crisis.

Very pleased with the donation of the Diaka Camara Foundation,

Mrs. Bangoura Marie Denise, President of the Kiridiya Orphanage in Matoto one of the benefactors is very pleased: “These gifts which consist of bags of rice, peanut oil, 5 kilos of sugar and boxes of tomatoes will at least a month because here we cooked at least 10 kilos of rice a day.  I thank the foundation very much and especially the founder Diaka Camara, she has been donating to our orphanage since Covid19 started,” the president said.

Ibrahima Cissé, another recipient of the foundation’s donation, lives in Tombolia in a very impoverished neighborhood: “I am very happy with the donation of the Diaka Camara Foundation. I’m relieved. Especially in this time of health crisis. I confess to you that the people of Guinea live in suffering and poverty. And this gesture of the foundation will lessen the suffering for a few days. Helping people who can’t do anything for themselves is a sign of wisdom and humanitarian.”

In an interview with our magazine, Ms. Diaka Camara, CEO of CBC Worldwide Communication Production Company and also the President of the Diaka Camara Foundation for Education in Guinea, explained to us how the telethon “All Against Covid19” came to be.

“Since the emergence of Covid-19 in our country, the Guinean government has embarked on a real race against time. First, exceptional measures were taken, including a call for national solidarity to address this unprecedented health crisis and limit its harmful effects”.

The “LET’S PROTECT OUR GUINEA AGAINST COVID 19″ initiative carried out by The Diaka Camara Foundation in collaboration with CBC Worldwide, HR Workshops, the Islamic Bank of Guinea, UBA Bank, Orange Money, MTN Mobile Money and several media and strategic partners, was born out of the need to raise funds to come to the aid of the people who were struggling to keep food on the table during the pandemic.  The initiative led to a Telethon “ALL AGAINST COVID-19”. The main objective being, raising enough money from individuals, public and private enterprises so that we could supply the most vulnerable people with sufficient food and health kits during this period of crisis that not only our country was going through but the whole world as well.

The very dynamic Diaka Camara points out that the beneficiaries of the initiative ”TELETHON-ALL ENSEMBLE AGAINST COVID-19” are, as a priority, orphans, strays, people with disabilities, sick people who are unable to move, families in long-term distress, single-parent families, households in loss of professional income as a result of the health crisis, or simply in one-off difficulty.

” Our Emergency packages consist of non-perishable goods such as rice, oil, sugar, tomato paste, as well as sanitary kits delivered directly to the beneficiaries,” she announces.

Diaka Camara is not at first rodeo when it comes to such initiatives.  During the Ebola crisis, she worked with UNICEF to raise awareness in the fight against the virus.   She has also worked with the U.S. Embassy in the fight against female genital mutilations.

“Through communication, we can raise awareness and educate people on sensitive issues, in order to eradicate bad practices and bad behavior,” she says.

Diaka Camara adds that CBC Worldwide COM-PROD in partnership with the Diaka Camara Foundation has launched the coronavirus initiative “PROTECTONS OUR GUINEA” for a awareness campaign in local languages.  “We brought in public figures, such as: journalists and celebrities such as Mamadou Thug, Petit Tonton, Gnamakala, Aly 100SON to raise awareness about preventive measures in the fight against covid19.

Speaking from a humanitarian point of view, the Diaka Camara Foundation has done a lot: “We have told ourselves how can we directly help people who are unemployed and who are destitute? Many people have been confined to their houses in order to break the chain of contamination.  But it’s hard to stay at home if you have to go out every day to earn your daily bread, which is why I came up with the idea of raising money through a telethon so that every Guinean citizen nationally and internationally could donate” says Diaka Camara.

She added: “We want all Guinean citizens here and the diaspora to participate. We have always said that people have no problem making a donation, they just want to make sure that the funds will go the people in need.   So, we decided to implement the Telethon initiative in complete transparency. The telethon is a live television fundraiser so we have gathered all of the TV stations:   RTG, Espace TV and CIS Media, to air it live and simultaneously, she explains.

Thus, she tells us, the telethon took place over a period of three days, on the three TV stations from 9pm to midnight on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. “We highlighted all the platforms where you could donate: via the Islamic Bank of Guinea, Orange money, MTN mobile money, the Guinea diaspora platform for those who wants to pay via credit card also via the UBA bank card, which were all partners in the telethon,” she says.

“We have managed to raise 96,000 euros half in cash and the other half in food.  For transparency purposes, we have created a whole platform, so that people can see how their money is used. We have created a website www.telethonguinee.org to allow people to register beneficiaries and track cash inflows and outflows. When it comes to registering beneficiaries, anyone can do it on the platform. We also have our teams on the ground to make sure that the people who are registered are really in need. With the funds raised, we can accompany 500 families for three months, or 5,000 people for a period of three months, instead of doing a one-off action. At the moment, we are continuing deliveries. To date, we have served 200 families, and we continue to identify families, Diaka Camara reassures.
Finally, she points out why THE FONDATION has focused on Conakry, the most affected area. “Unfortunately for us, Conakry remains the epicenter of the disease. In the country side, they really managed to stop the spray of the disease.  We decided to focus first in Conakry, then we will go inside the country. We are in the process of setting up a partnership with traders with whom we can work across the country with. The identified families will be able to go to these different places to have the food packs we have set up delivered.”
The food kits consist, per beneficiary, of a 50 kg bag of rice, 1 can of 5-litre oil, 10 kg of sugar and 5 kilos of tomatoes accompanied by sanitary kits: a bucket with 4 pieces of soap and a can of bleach and masks. “This is what we will delivered to each beneficiary three times, for the 500 families that we have fully identified over a period of 3 months.  We invite everyone to visit our platform www.telehtonguinée and make a donation because the telethon continues,” concludes the president of the Diaka Camara Foundation.

Since 2018, the Diaka Camara Foundation has been working on the project “One School, One Library”. Our goal is to set up modern libraries in public schools in the five municipalities of Conakry first, follow by the rest of the country. In each municipality in Conakry, the FDC will choose a public primary school, college and high school.

The project begins in the commune of Kaloum where a primary school, a middle college and a high school has been chosen to launch the program. On Saturday February 13 2021, thanks to our partners, we have launched the renovation of the library of the chosen high school called “the Lycée 02 Octobre” which is the first high school in the republic of Guinea.  The high school is home to 1600 students who have no access to books nor computers.  Our main focus is to build a modern library with a computer lab where the students will learn how to use Microsoft Office.   The FDC recognizes the importance of giving the students access to the new technologies which is why all of the libraries will have state of the art computer labs so they can learn not only how to use computers but take online classes.  We thank all of our partners:  Albarach Group, Total, Canal +, SMB, UMS, FODAC, ONFPP, Soft Choice and the Islamic Bank of Guinea for support in making this library a reality.  We are hoping that many others will join them in financing the rest so that we each child in Guinea can have access to a decent library
